GAZT OFFICIALLY LAUNCHES MOBILE APP FOR VAT IN SAUDI ARABIA


The General Authority of Zakat and Tax (GAZT) has officially launched its mobile app for both Android and Iphone on December 30, 2017.

VAT has been officially implemented across the Kingdom from January 01, 2018. The mobile app comes with various advantages and uses from a general understanding of VAT to ability of verifying the authenticity of the supplier charging VAT on his supplies.

The mobile application introduced is for general public and consumer end use. It does not incorporate the capability of industrial use as yet for return filing or VAT payments e.t.c.



Following are the main features of the new application:


1) VAT CALCULATOR


The mobile application offers a VAT calculator with a simple layout for day to day easy use by general public. 

It comes with a simple input feild to enter the taxable amount for which the VAT is to be computed.

The users have two options either to calculate the VAT or delete the amount for new entry.


2) LATEST NEWS AND FAQS  


The home screen of the application consists of various links for valuable information regarding understanding of VAT, latest news and general FAQs regarding VAT. The links provide latest updates and news directly accessible from the official website and is synchronised in real time with the web portal.


3) VAT ENTITY REGISTRATION VERIFICATION 


The next option relates to the verification of the entity for the purpose of charging VAT on taxable supplies. The users have following three options in this category for the purpose of verifying the authenticity of supplier:

  • Scanning the QR code if printed on the VAT invoice;
  • Entering the commercial registration number; or
  • Entering the Tax Identification Number

This is a very important option enabling the users to evaluate the authenticity of supplier for the purpose of newly introduced VAT in the kingdom. Since VAT is indirect tax this option gives a sense of authority to the general consumers regarding the tax imposed on them.


4) REPORTING A MISCONDUCT


In an event where the consumer is unable to verify the authenticity of the supplier explained in the previous option or any other misconduct, the consumer has been empowered to lodge a complaint against the said misconduct through the option available in the application. 

This facility comes with following options and details to be provided:

  • Reporter Name;
  • Reporter Phone Number;
  • Facility Name;
  • Message;
  • Attachment; and 
  • Location using GPS
